The organization had previously engaged in a variety of environmental efforts in an unorganized way. However, to make it easier to function in an organized manner, it debuted as the Green Being Foundation (GBF) in the year 2024. It has been registered as a non-profit organization under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Government of India under Section 8 of the Companies Act, 2013(18 of 2013). GBF is also registered under NGO Darpan – NITI AAYOG, 12AA & 80G of the Income Tax Act. GBF is a non-governmental, non-partisan, non-profit organization based in Kolkata, West Bengal. It advocates for environmental conservation, WASH programs and raises awareness about water-borne diseases in schools, colleges, municipal corporations, and other governmental entities. Using its citizen portal, the NGO motivates and inspires local communities to collaborate to improve the environment. Objectives
- Planning, organizing, encouraging, and supervising environmental programs and activities that avoid, mitigate, and control pollution as well as programs for protecting, conserving, and enhancing the environment through regulation, policy formation, supervision, and monitoring with innovative technologies.
- Environmental awareness, assessment, advocacy, and action will be strengthened by facilitating the collaborated collection, collation, and sharing of environmental information.
- To implement effective techniques for adaptation and mitigation of climate change consequences, such as improved glacier monitoring and inventory updates.
- Protect and conserve crucial environmental resources, as well as invaluable natural and man-made heritage, which are required for life-sustaining livelihoods and societal well-being.
- Prevent and control pollution in India, preserve and restore the health of water, and safeguard the natural environment.
- Improving and effectively enhancing the natural habitat and establishing social awareness regarding water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH).
